Mani Shankar Aiyar is a former Indian diplomat and senior public figure whose career has spanned foreign service, Parliament, and the Union Cabinet.
After serving in the Indian Foreign Service, he entered politics and went on to hold major ministerial portfolios including Petroleum and Natural Gas, Panchayati Raj, Youth Affairs and Sports, and Development of the North Eastern Region.
He remains a prominent commentator on Indian politics, democracy, and foreign policy, and is also the author of several books and memoirs.
