The Record · अभिलेख

Justice Siddharth Mridul is a senior Indian judge, currently serving as the Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, known for his clarity of reasoning, constitutional focus, and long tenure on the Delhi bench.

Born on 20 August 1961, he comes from a distinguished legal background—his father, Justice Jaspal Singh, was a judge of the Delhi High Court. Mridul studied law at the University of Delhi and enrolled as an advocate in 1987.

He built a strong practice at the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court, handling constitutional, civil, commercial, and criminal matters, and was designated a Senior Advocate in 2004—a sign that he was already operating at the top tier of the Bar.

In 2008, he was elevated as a judge of the Delhi High Court, where he served for over a decade. During this time, he became known for:

• Well-reasoned, structured judgments

• A strong grasp of constitutional and administrative law

• Handling high-profile and sensitive cases with composure

In February 2023, he was appointed Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, stepping into a role that demanded not just legal expertise but also administrative leadership in a complex and sensitive region
