Dr. Karan Singh is a distinguished Indian statesman, scholar, and public intellectual with a career spanning over seven decades in politics, diplomacy, and academia. Born into the erstwhile royal family of Jammu and Kashmir, he served as the state’s Regent and later as Sadr-i-Riyasat before transitioning into national politics.

A senior leader of the Indian National Congress, Dr. Singh has held several key positions in the Government of India, including Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Health and Family Planning, and Education and Culture. He has also represented India on the global stage as Ambassador to the United States.

Beyond politics, Dr. Singh is widely respected for his contributions to Indian philosophy, culture, and interfaith dialogue. A prolific author and speaker, his work bridges tradition and modernity, with a focus on civilizational thought, spirituality, and global harmony. He has been associated with numerous academic and cultural institutions, including serving as Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University.
